About Our Helpers

Who we are

At Homestead Helpers Holistic Hoof Care, we’re more than just a hoof care service , we’re fellow homesteaders and animal lovers who truly understand the ups and downs , chaos and triumphs of farm life. Our journey began with our own "both feet first jump" into farm life - started with chickens, then rabbits, then goats and sheep.... and so on. This is where we quickly realized just how important regular hoof care is to their health, comfort, and happiness. It quite literally is the foundation of the animal.

Over time, that passion grew into a calling to help others care for their herds and flocks , too.

The name  "Homestead Helpers" was born because our heart is in helping others, more specifically fellow farmers and homesteaders care for the animals they love. Life on a homestead is busy and full of moving parts, and sometimes those little details , like routine hoof care ,  can feel overwhelming. That’s where we step in. Our name is a reminder of our mission: to lend a hand, lighten the load, and support both animals and their people. Whether it’s keeping hooves healthy, reducing stress for your herd, or simply making life a little easier, being a helper is at the core of everything we do.

This small, family-run business is built on compassion, trust, and a deep respect for every animal we meet. We know that healthy hooves mean happy animals, and we take pride in offering gentle, reliable care right at your farm. Each visit is about more than trimming hooves it’s about keeping your animals balanced, comfortable, and thriving, while taking one more task off your already full plate. We always are here to "pick our brain" on topics that are puzzling you or share your goals with!

Meet

Our Hoof Care Specialist

Hi! Im Tammy -  the Owner and Hoof Care Specialist behind Homestead Helpers Holistic Hoof Care. I'm the person you communicate with on messenger, email and over the phone. I’m also a homesteader, wife, shepherdess, and mother of many, with a love for living close to the land. My journey into holistic animal husbandry and hoof care began with my own goats and sheep, where I discovered just how important routine care is for keeping animals balanced, healthy, and thriving.  One part is connected to all others , it's a ecosystem. Nutrition, environment and TLC - including tending feet - all contruibute to well managed livestock and pets.

My years of  hands-on experience grew into a passion and a calling to help others care for their herds. There is a void for quality specialized care - especially in small ruminants ... and I wanted to fill that void with professional , effective and hygenic care.

I take pride in feedback from my clients that comment about how soft handed yet assertive we are with their animals. How our energy overflows to the animal and makes for a much less stressful experience. I also advocate for sedation free procedures, like the ones we provide - not every animal needs or deserves the added stress of being "put under" for necessary , routine, trimming events.

Beyond the farm, I’m an artist at heart , specifically a fiber artist who finds joy in raising my own fibers ( romeny sheep, angora goats for mohair and various breeds of angora rabbits) hand  spinning my own yarn, weaving/crochet/knit/felting  and bringing beauty out of natural materials. I’m also an herbalist, a gypsy soul with a hippie flare, and someone who believes deeply in holistic, natural living. Every part of who I am comes together in this work: compassion, creativity, and a genuine desire to help both animals and their people.

I often feel that we meet as strangers and leave as friends! I look forward to meeting you and your animals!
