- Mini Pig Services | Homestead Helpers Sp
We know they are special... ...and we treat them accordingly! Specialized Services for Mini Pigs Our Method: We use the American Mini Pig Association's "Flip the Pig" method, prioritizing your pig's comfort and well-being. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR PIG TO CONSUME anything (food, treats, grass, leaves, etc) at very least 3 hr prior to our arrival! A few sips of water are okay. We trim to your animals "normal". This means we shape the hoof to function best for your pigs comfort. During trimming, we monitor your pig for stress and check vital signs to ensure safety. For pigs new to handling or trimming, we work gently to minimize stress and build trust. Severely overgrown hooves may require multiple visits to address the issue safely and effectively. Please note, we do not currently service large commercial farm pigs. We reserve the right to refuse to work on any animal that is un handleable, meaning one that charges, bites, thrashes or otherwise is a safety concern to itself or my team. How mini pigs benefit from routine hoof care & trims : Prevents Overgrowth: Hooves can overgrow and curl, causing pain, difficulty walking, and damage to soft tissues. Improves Mobility: Allows pigs to walk comfortably and naturally. Reduces Injury: Such as slips , trips and falls. Prevents Joint Strain: Avoids posture issues that lead to misalignment and extra pressure to joints. Enhances Well-Being: Supports overall health, reduces stress, and improves quality of life. "Healthy hooves are the foundation of a happy pig. Regular trims prevent pain, improve mobility, and ensure your pig can live comfortably, thrive, and enjoy life to the fullest." Does Trimming Hurt? Trimming pig hooves is a painless process when done correctly because the hoof is made of keratin, similar to human nails. The outer portion of the hoof is non-living tissue, so trimming this area doesn’t cause discomfort. We bring the correct tools and knowledge to carefully avoid the sensitive inner structures, ensuring your pig stays comfortable throughout the process. Regular hoof care also prevents painful overgrowth, cracks, or infections, keeping your pig healthy and happy. Many pigs may act VERY dramatic, as many are not used to handling by humans. They are VERY smart and try to scare us off by yelling. This is often short lived. Many pigs eventually relax and enjoy their pedicure often falling asleep! Safe . Simple . Effective . Correct. No Box or Strap Restraints used! Sedation FREE ! Mini Pig Association Approved Equipment Used! Endorsed Flip the Pig" Method Practiced! At your home or farm visits! No traveling! No Hassle Farm Visit Fee: $75 +$85 per pig trim service Additional Fees: $50 + New Client Pig Trims $50 + Overgrown Hooves * *as this required more time, assistants and equipment. If your pig has been trimmed by us in the past 6 months the $50 fee listed above does not apply. Additional Mileage may apply depending on area. Our services and prices are based on Mini Pig Size animals. Generally our mini pig clients are under #275 lbs. For safety reasons we do NOT provide services for Large and XL #300+ lb pigs at this time. We look forward to meeting you and your Piggie(s)!
